Product Develop Placement
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Harper Adams Engineering student to gain hands-on, industry-based experience in developing a range of precast concrete products for the agricultural market.
You will work on projects from concept to production, identifying market demand, understanding stakeholder needs, assessing production efficiencies, and calculating manufacturing costs.
You’ll also evaluate machinery capacity, contribute to range development, review existing patents, and forecast future sales potential.
You will gain valuable insights into operational and supply chain management, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver practical improvements and eliminate waste.
This is a fast-paced role with scope for varied experiences, including:
- Supporting training days and product demonstrations
- Reviewing competitor products
- Attending relevant conferences and exhibitions
- Participating in new product development and trials
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research to identify product demand in the agricultural sector
- Engage with stakeholders to understand needs and design practical solutions
- Analyse production processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Review and interpret relevant patents to inform new product design
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to optimise workflow
- Assess and document production costs and machinery utilisation
- Contribute to product range development and sales forecasting
- Benchmark competitor products and identify opportunities for innovation
- Support company training, marketing events, and exhibitions
Candidate Requirements
- Currently studying Engineering at Harper Adams University
- Highly motivated, proactive, and adaptable with a strong “can-do” attitude
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to take ownership and go above and beyond in assigned projects
- Interest in manufacturing, product development, and the agricultural sector
