Legato® Interlocking Blocks Create a Six-Bay Industrial Storage Bunker

Installed by APC Civils, the bunker provides a durable, modular solution for separating and storing materials within a busy industrial environment. The project required efficient construction with minimal disruption to ongoing operations, alongside flexibility to accommodate future storage requirements.

The client required a storage bunker that would:

• Create six separate bays for effective material segregation.

• Provide retaining walls suitable for the anticipated material loads.

• Allow efficient installation to minimise operational downtime.

• Offer flexibility for future modification or reconfiguration.

• Provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional cast in-situ concrete construction.

Elite Precast Concrete supplied Legato® Interlocking Concrete Blocks, combining high-strength precast concrete with a dry-stack, modular design.

The interlocking system enables blocks to be assembled without mortar, simplifying wall construction and reducing the need for on-site concrete pouring, formwork and curing associated with traditional cast in-situ walls.

Elite coordinated block supply with APC Civils to support the installation programme. The modular format also offered scope for future alterations, subject to appropriate design checks.

APC Civils constructed the bunker using Legato® blocks to form six individual storage bays.

The repeatable block system supported efficient assembly, creating a practical layout for material segregation and daily site operations. As with any storage bay structure, wall configuration must account for stored materials, loading conditions, foundations and operational activities.
